Reading Assignments Policy
Former students report that reading assignments were very helpful to them on the graduation and end of course tests. They stated that they remembered items of interest from the various articles that are read on Fridays. Below is a choice of articles to read. Use the articles from the lists below. You will be responsible to have 4-8 articles read and the questions answered for each 9 weeks. You have the Fridays of each week to complete this work. First 9 weeks Reading Assignments( complete 8):
write the story described at the end of the reading.
2.After reading several articles above such as # 11, 19,20,23; write about the causes of the Civil War from the views of a Northerner and a Southerner.
4.Using the text, Explain the Northwest Ordinance’s importance in the westward migration of Americans and on slavery, public education, and the addition of new states.
5.Read the Book "Five Aprils" and do as directed in class.
1. Write a 100 word biography of Teddy Roosevelt using the above link.
2. Write a 100 word biography of.Upton Sinclair and the Jungle using the above link
3. Describe tenements and the life of a person in them in 100 words using the link above
4. Write a short 150 word biography of your life as a child laborer in a Georgia textile factory. Use the link on child labor above for data collection.
Fourth 9 weeks Reading Assignments (Complete 7. Instructions follow the list of reading assignments)
1.Using Article #1 about how Hitler became a dictator; write a 300 word paragraph answering that question. "How did Hitler who was democratically voted in, become a totalitarian dictator?
2.Using article # 5, write a 300 word letter home to your sister or brother about Pearl harbor as you saw it happen from the shore or on one of the ships. Be specific and real.
3.Using article #6, write a 300 word letter to your great-grandchild about how WWII started, why it started and how it ended. Be specific and imaginative. Make it real for the child.
4.For articles #7 to 14 and #19 , write a 300 word column for the Thomasville Enterprise about the effect of that person, the movement or their contributions to the history, industrialization, or popular cultureo of or on our little town and you. Be specific and engaging or else the Enterprise will go broke.
5. For # 15 to 18 and 20 , answer the questions. Be accurate.
6.For articles 21 to 28, answer questions or complete map as instructed in the reading.
7. For #29, write a short letter , about 100 words, about the war in the Pacific.or another topic that you chose about WWII or the Navaho, in code.
