Some historic advice for Students: "More than any time in history mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness, the other to total extinction. Let us pray that we have the wisdom to choose correctly" Woody Allan "History makes men and women wise; poetry, witty; the mathematics, subtle; natural philosophy, deep; morality, grave; logic and rhetoric, able to contend." Sir Francis Bacon
"Every time history repeats itself the price goes up". Anonymous"It is not disgrace to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for. Not failure, but low aim, is a sin." Dr. B. Mays

The History of the United States is a fascinating subject and you will learn this in our one year survey class . It is also time consuming and requires organization to comprehend the events and concepts. That is why I have created this wiki. It will help you navigate the class requirements and procedures, assignments, and use the Internet as a source. You can access this site in the the Media Center and at home.
Wikis are a form of fairly new technology. Wikipedia is the best example that I am aware of. You should look at some US History wikis on Wiki space in order to see how they work.
Wikis are somewhat new to me so I am hoping that this will be a shared effort. I am hoping to have you help improve this wiki by adding text, music and images. We have the capability to add RSS feeds and I am looking forward to doing that.
I have attached the US History syllabus on this page; please read it.
On the right side of this page is the Navigation bar. It is a list of links to the other pages in this wiki. For example, if you need to check on a classwork assignment that you did not finish in class for unit 1; click on Unit 1: Colonial era . This will take you to the appropriate page. Once on the page, use the table of contents to navigate to the specific area that you need to be at, such as Assignments.
Each unit page will contain the following: Performance standards for Georgia, Essential questions for the unit , key questions that you need to be able to answer at the end of the unit, assignments and anything else that applies to that unit.
Since all of the work that we will do this year is on this wiki, I will not be making additional paper copies for students who lose the copies that I give them. You will need to print out any missing work on your own time and at your own expense. You will not be printing out additional copies on my printer. I believe the Media Center charges 10 cents per sheet of paper to print.
Power points from each unit are available. You will be able to use them for review. Students who miss class will be able to use this feature to keep up with work. Hospital Home Bound students and those who suffer the shameful experience of suspension will also be able to keep up by accessing this site at home.
Wikis are private unless otherwise designated. I am the Manager and will begin the wiki as private. .
Script that is blue or purple is linked to the site described in the script. Just click on it and you will travel in cyberspace to the site.
Google has an excellent translation services where text can be translated into another language. Very useful if you are fortunate enough to be a first generation American and speak more than one language or are taking language classes at TCCHS. Ask me for directions on how to use it.
www.missdworldofsocialstudies.wikispace.com is the address of this wiki. Use it to navigate to the wiki.
